Viva la Indie

 If you haven't been able to tell, one site which I adore and feature products from quite often is Etsy. Mostly because it is one of the best independent artist platforms I know of.

 I stumbled across imagine studio'swhile just randomly roaming around in Etsy, and it is one of my favorites thus far. The artist behind it is Lyse Marion, and she is based out of Montreal.  Most of her works consist of digital collages, all printed using high quality Giclee printing. If you are unfamiliar with Glicee printing, all it is is ink jet printing that uses archival ink which just increases resolution and makes for a better quality print.

Her pieces range from the surreal, and cosmic, to very earthy expressionist pieces. A few of them have even reminded me of past famous works, some intentional because they were obvious Ode's to the originals.

The prints range in price from $18 to $35 and are available here at her store. Hope you enjoy....

 I apologize for the brief hiatus, but I promise I'll make it up to you with this lovely feature...

 I love oil perfumes, cruelty free cosmetics, and the mysterious alchemy of perfume composition. If you like any of these things, I find you'll fall in love with Sweet Anthem too.

First of all, their packaging is beautiful; choose from solid perfume, roll on, or just simple little apothecary bottles.

The prices are equally appealing; sample start of at $5, and regular and custom orders range anywhere from $20 to $60, the variable being bottle size. With a a wide variety of olfactory pleasing pre-made fragrances, I got my hands on Madeline; Black Currant, Cognac, Helichrysum, Pine, Sandalwood, White Ginger. There is also Dina: Cinnamon, Dragon's Blood, Ginger, Maureen: Almond, Arabian Spices, Cranberry, Fig, Moroccan Rose, Moroccan Mint, and countless others.

One of my favorite features of theirs is they do custom perfume. They give you all the scents available for each layer (top notes, heart notes, base notes) and let you play perfumer, or le nez as the French say.

Also newly available, are some wonderful masculine fragrances. For now  there is just Eugene: Black Pepper, Coriander, Musk, Orris, Sandalwood, and Elliott: Vegetable Carrier Oil, Oakmoss, Labdanum, Pine, Rain. Would make a nice gift to any special man in your life.

Follow your noses to their shop, and indulge.

PS This is completely random, but discussing perfume always reminds me of this weird movie I saw a few years ago. It's called Perfume: the Story of a Murderer. It takes place in 18th century France, and is about pretty much what it sounds like. Check it out.

Today I'm featuring Colleen Baran Jewellery, partly because I finally received the ring I purchased from her, after weeks of twiddling my thumbs (a lot of her pieces are custom made), but mostly, I'm featuring her because her jewellery is awesome, beautiful, simple, customizable, and affordable.

I purchased this beautiful two-finger ring, because apart of me has always loved knuckle-dusters, but this one is feminine and subtle, just my style when it comes to jewellery.

A lot of her peices are simple and elegant, but certainly not your Grandma's simple and elegant. I'm especially in love with this piece from her Love Letters collection.

Its a simple, gorgeous silver ring, but is able to hold little love notes for your sweetheart. I found this so sweet, because I don't know about you, but sometimes I wish I lived back in the day of pining and love letters, not haste and text message. This little gem is a great and unique way to slow down, and write your longing love letter, in our modern world. Its $75 and available in her store.
